Say directly if suicidal thoughts, an attempt, intoxication, weapons, or immediate danger are involved
Ask whether phone support, mobile response, walk-in assessment, or another option fits
Ask what to do if the situation gets worse while waiting
For youth and families
Tell the counselor the person’s age and whether a caregiver or trusted adult is present. Ask what youth-specific response and follow-up are available. A young person should not be asked to manage another young person’s suicidal crisis alone.
